18. Attach the master cylinder to the original
OEM clamp of the mechanical clutch
lever on the handlebar. Use the 1/4"-20
screws provided. Do not use the original
screws from the clamp!
19. The turn signal on 2003 models and
older can either be attached to the
mirror mounting screw with the existing
OEM adaptor, or the adaptor can be
taken off and the mounting procedure
for 2004 models and younger can be
followed. In this case, the ball on the
stud of the turn signal is inserted into
the ball socket on the master cylinder
and locked in position with the setscrew.
20. lf the hose has been shortened, before actuating the clutch for the first time, turn the
handlebar to the right so that the master cylinder is tilted upwards. Pump master
cylinder lever several times max. 1/4 of its possible travel. This ensures that any
residual air can escape to the reservoir. (A quick way to check free play after
installation, simply pull slave cylinder body away from housing. The gap created
should be about 1/8".)
