Prestige 1100 Internet Access Router
5-4 Remote Node TCP/IP Configuration
The following table shows the TCP/IP related fields in Menu 11.3 - Remote Node Network Layer
Options.
Table 5-2 Remote Node TCP/IP Configuration
Field Description Option
Rem IP Address This shows the IP address you entered for this remote node in
the previous menu, Remote Node Profile.
Rem IP Subnet
Mask
Enter the subnet mask for the remote network.
My WAN Addr Some implementations, especially the UNIX derivatives,
require the WAN link to have a separate IP network number
from the LAN and each end must have a unique address within
the WAN network number. If this is the case, enter the IP
address assigned to the WAN port of your Prestige 1100.
Note that this is the address assigned to your local Prestige
1100, not the remote router.
(See Figure 5-3 for an explanation of [My WAN Addr] with
Sample IP Addresses)
Single User
Account
Set this field to [Yes] to enable the Single User Account feature
for your Prestige 1100. Use the space bar to toggle between
[Yes] and [No].
[Yes/No]
Metric The metric represents the “cost” of transmission for routing
purposes. IP routing uses hop count as the measurement of
cost, with a minimum of [1] for directly connected networks.
Enter a number that approximates the cost for this link. The
number need not be precise, but it must be between [1] and
[16]. In practice, [2] or [3] is usually a good number.
[1] to [15]
Private This parameter determines if the Prestige 1100 will include the
route to this remote node in its RIP broadcasts. If set to [Yes],
this route is kept private and not included in RIP broadcast. If
[No], the route to this remote node will be propagated to other
hosts through RIP broadcasts.
