MAKING A LARGE PANEL CUT

Make surethe sew is properlysecuredto e work surface
to avoidtippingfrom the weightof a large panel

Placea supportthe same heightas the top of the saw
table behind the saw for the cutwork. Addsupportsto
the sidesas needed.
Dependingon theshape of thepansl, usethe ripfence
or miteTgauge, ffthe panel istoo largeto uses_'herthe
rip{onceor the miter gauge, itistoo {argofor this saw.
_IL WARNING: Nsvsrmake freehand cuts{cutswithout
the mitergaugeor ripfence),which canresultin
seriousinjury.
Make sure thewood does not touchthe blade before
you turn on the saw, Let the blade bu_d up to fullspeed
beforefoeding the wood _,ntothe blade.
When the work isoemplstod, pressthe switch offand
removethe key.

Non-throughcutscan be madewith the grain(ripping)or
acrossthe grain (crosscut}.The useofa nOn-throughcut
is essentialto cuttinggrooves,rabbets,and d,ad.oes.
NOTE: TtT_sis the onlytype outthat is madewithout
the blade guardinstsIled.Make surethe blade guard
assembly la reinstalleduponcompletion of thistype of
cut.
Read the appropriate sectionwhichdescribesthe type
of cut inaddition to this section on non-throughor dado
cuts. Forexample,if yournon-throughcut is a straight
cross cut, read and understandthe sectionon straight
cross cuts before procaed{ng.
Unplug the saw.
Lowerthe blade and removethe screwholdingthe
throat plate in place.Removethe throatplate.
RaLsethe saw blade.
Put the sew inanglemode by pushingthe bevel
lockinglavarto theright.Turnthe heightadjusting
hsndwheeluntil the b(adeindicstershowsa 30" ar_jis.
Push thebevel locking{eversecurelyto the[eftto lock
the angle,
Loosenthe two hexnutsst the baseof the rivingknife.
Do not remove hex nuts. Removethe rivingknife/
blade guard assembly.Retightanthetwo hex nuts on
the base,
Lowerthe blade and insert thethroat plate,then
securelytighten thethroatplate screw.
Bring the blade backto gO°.
Raise the blade_othe correcthaigh'tby tuTningthe
height ad{ustinghandwheelcounterclockwise.
NOTE: Carefullycheckall setupsand rctsta the blade
one fur{revolutionto assureproperclearancebefore
connecting saw topowersource.
Feed theworkpiscs into the blade.
Always use pushblocks, pushsticks,and feather-
boards when makingnon-throughcutstoavoidthe
risk of seriousinjury,

cutter iscoveredbythe warY,piece duringmost ot
the cut. Be alert to the exposedcutter at the start
and finishof everycut to avoid the risk of personal
injury.
