Spraying
12. Open gun fluid inlet valves A and B.
Note
On impingement guns, never open
fluid manifold valves or trigger gun if
pressures are imbalanced.
13. Disengage gun piston safety lock.
14. Test spr
ay onto cardboard. Adjust pressure and
tempera
ture to get desired results.
15. Equipment is ready to spray.
Spray Adjustm
ents
Flow rate, atomization, and amount of overspray are
affected by four variables.
Fluid pressu
re setting. Toolittlepressureresults
in an uneven p
attern, coarse droplet size, low
flow, and poo
r mixing. Too much pressure results
in excessiv
e overspray, high flow rates, difficult
control, an
d excessive wear.
Fluid tempe
rature. Similareffectstofluidpressure
setting. T
he A and B temperatures can be offset to
help balan
cethefluidpressure.
Mix chambe
rsize.Choice of mix chamber is based
on desired
flow rate and fluid viscosity.
Clean-of
f air adjustment. Too little clean-off air
results i
n droplets building up on the front of the
nozzle, a
nd no pattern containment to control
overspra
y. Too much clean-off air results in
air-ass
isted atomization and excessive overspray.
