HOOKING UP GMA SHIELDING
GAS
CYLINDER may explode if
damaged.
• Gas under pressure is explosive.
•· Always keep gas cylinders in an
upright position and always keep
them chained to the undercarriage
or a stationary support.
See American National Standard Z-49.1, "Safety in
Welding and Cutting," published by the American
Welding Society.
The user must provide a cylinder of shielding gas, a
pressure regulator, a flow control valve and a hose
from the flow valve to the gas inlet fitting of the LN-9
GMA. See Figure A.10 and install as follows:
1. Connect the supply hose from the gas cylinder flow
valve outlet to the 5/8-18 female inert gas fitting on
the back panel of the LN-9 GMA wire drive section.
2. Install the barbed fitting and union nut to the 5/8-18
female inert gas fitting on the front of the LN-9
GMA. Connect the 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) I.D. gas
hose from the gun to the barbed fitting.
When you need to remove the gun, you can easily
detach this fitting by loosening the union nut.
