TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Observe Safety Guidelines
detailed in the beginning of this manual.

WELDING PROBLEMS
When welding in the Stick Mode,
the current changes with arc
length.
1. Make sure the machine settings
are correct for the process
being used. When stick weld-
ing, the CC Slope Switch (S2)
should be in the Stick/Gouge
position.
2. Check the welding cables for
loose or faulty connections.
1. Check the CC Slope Switch
(S2) and the associated lead
connections.
2. Check all the plug connections
to the Weld Control Board for
loose or faulty connections.
See the Wiring Diagram
3. The Weld Control Board may be
faulty. Replace.
When using fast freeze type elec-
trodes such as E6010 or E7010,
the welding performance is poor.
1. Make sure the machine settings
are correct for the process
being used. When stick welding
with fast freeze type elec-
trodes, the CC Slope Switch
(S2) should be in the Pipe posi-
tion.
2. Check the welding cables for
loose or faulty connections.
1. Check the CC Slope Switch
(S2) and the associated lead
connections.
2. Check all the plug connections
to the Weld Control Board for
loose or faulty connections.
See the Wiring Diagram.
3. The Weld Control Board may be
faulty. Replace.
