Installing and Removing Memory
Step 7 Lift the air duct straight up and remove it from the appliance chassis. (See location 5 in Figure 4-4 on
page 4-8.)
Installing the Processor Air Duct
Caution The processor air duct is required for proper airflow within the chassis. Be sure the air duct is in place
again before installing the appliance cover.
To install the processor air duct:
Step 1 Review the information in the “Safety Warnings” section on page x and the “Safety Guidelines” section
on page 2-2.
Step 2 Power down the appliance and all external devices. Disconnect the AC power cord or DC power source
and all external cables.
Step 3 Remove the appliance cover. For instructions, see the “Removing the Cover” section on page 4-3.
Step 4 Slide the duct forward until it is flush with the front of the appliance and stops.
The front edge will engage at the front panel. (See location 3 in Figure 4-4 on page 4-8.) The metal tab
at the rear will engage. (See location 4 in Figure 4-4 on page 4-8.)
Step 5 Push the air duct down into the appliance chassis.
Step 6 Tighten the captive fastener. (See location 1 in Figure 4-4 on page 4-8.)

Caution The memory is not hot-swappable. Before removing or replacing any dual in-line memory module
(DIMM), you must first take the Cisco ADE 2130 and 2140 Series appliance out of service, turn off the
appliance by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord from the appliance or wall outlet
or disconnect the DC power source.
Caution When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For
more information on handling these devices, see the “Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage”
section on page 2-5.
