Resets
Round Trip Time
Saturation Time
Reported for interfaces (WAN only)
Description Resets may occur on the transmission protocols or the physical interfaces making
the interface unavailable while it is restarting and until the connections are re-
established. Resets can be caused by the operators or internet service providers
(ISP), by a poor quality line, or by faults in the interface or the modem being used.
Units resets per hour
Default
thresholds
none
Points to check poor quality line; malfunctioning modem
Reported for peers
Description time for a complete transaction between a device managed by PATROL
DashBoard and any other device
The measuring of the round-trip time is based on the ping function, which uses
the ICMP protocol. It shows the network transmission delays as perceived by the
user.
Units milliseconds (ms)
Default
thresholds
minimum 500 ms–maximum 1000 ms (1 second)
Points to check saturated link or device between two devices
Reported for ISDN Basic Rate Interfaces (BRIs) or E1 channels
Description total time that all 64-Kbps channels are busy
Units minutes (min)
Default
thresholds
for BRI: minimum 40 min–maximum 50 min
for E1 channel: none
Points to check applications with largest communication time values
