E-Mail Notification Problem
Appendix A Troubleshooting PATROL DashBoard 299
■ router’s access restrictions: Some routers can restrict access to their internal SNMP
agent from certain interfaces.
■ whether your computer uses dynamic DHCP: If it does, your IP address could
change every time you restart your system.
Other problems related to discovery often result from a partial compatibility of the
router with the MIB-II standard.
After the discovery of routers has been completed and all the devices have been
activated, stop and then restart the PATROL DashBoard server.
E-Mail Notification Problem
Notification messages about threshold crossing are sent only if
■ the SMTP server is correctly configured
■ the E-mail Notification check box of the object possessing the concerned indicator is
selected
■ an indicator has, for the first time, exceeded the maximum threshold
■ the indicator has gone below the minimum threshold at least once since the last
notification
Reports may not be sent if your SMTP server implements rules for the management
of spam messages.
Sending Reports by E-Mail Does Not Work
Reports are sent by e-mail only if the following elements are properly configured:
■ the SMTP server
■ the e-mail address notification
■ the period for sending reports (daily or weekly)
NOTE
The router discovery procedure may take several minutes to several hours,
depending on your network’s architecture.
