Discovery is the first process among PATROL DashBoard operations. PATROL
DashBoard provides generic discovery to discover local-area-network (LAN) devices
and router discovery to discover wide-area-network (WAN) routers. You can define
specific properties for discoveries to take place according to a particular schedule,
storing these defined discoveries as entries in the
Discoveries portion of the
navigation tree.
As soon as discovery is completed, PATROL DashBoard starts to collect raw data on
the entire network and creates the first reports.
Expanding
Discoveries in the navigation tree, as shown in Figure 17, shows the types
of discovery available:

Right-click an item under Discoveries to access the menu shown in Figure 18:

Properties displays a summary of each discovery entry.
New Discovery opens the Discovery Creation screen, in which you specify
parameters for a new discovery entry.
Refresh refreshes the subtree of these entries.
