Setting Up the Handling of SNMP Traps
62 PATROL DashBoard User Guide
Setting Up the Handling of SNMP Traps
For PATROL DashBoard to notify one or more SNMP managers, usually the network
management platforms (HP OV, CA TNG, and ISM), you must enter the names or IP
addresses of the computers on which these applications run.
To Set Up SNMP Trap Handling
1
In the PATROL DashBoard Control Panel navigation tree, click SNMP Traps.
The SNMP Traps setup screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 16:

2 (optional) In PATROL Visualis, enter the host names or IP addresses of the PATROL
Visualis SNMP managers, separated by spaces, that you want to receive the traps.
3 In Other Managers, enter the host names or IP addresses of the SNMP managers,
separated by spaces, that you want to receive the traps.
For each manager, you can specify a TCP/IP port other than the default port (162)
by adding :num_port to the manager name, where num_port is the number relative
to the UDP port.
4 In Notification Period, select how often that you want to be notified of traps (you
can select both check boxes).
5 In Notification on Threshold Crossing, select the check boxes for the type of
threshold crossing that you want to be notified about:
■ Downward: notifies you about the crossing of a minimum threshold
■ Upward: notifies you about the crossing of a maximum threshold
