Rediscovering a Network Object
Chapter 4 Discovering and Managing Objects 81
Rediscovering a Network Object
You can perform a rediscovery at various levels: domain, device, or component.
Rediscovery updates the information in the database about the object and its
subordinate objects in the navigation tree.
To Rediscover a Network Object
1
In the Network portion of the navigation tree, right-click the object.
2 Choose Actions => Rediscover.
3 In the confirmation screen, click Rediscover.
Deleting a Network Object
To delete any object in the Network portion of the navigation tree requires similar
action, regardless of its location in the tree; however, deleting some objects requires
you to provide more information than others. The amount of information depends on
the complexity of your network and the number of levels that you have.
When you delete a network object, the object is removed from the navigation tree and
all of its data is removed from the database.
To Delete a Network Object of Any Type
1
In the Network portion of the navigation tree, locate the object and right-click it.
2 Choose Actions => Delete.
If you selected a domain to delete, the Domain Deletion screen is displayed, as
shown in Figure 24 on page 82. Proceed with step 3.
WARNING
When you delete a domain, you also delete from PATROL DashBoard all the
devices that were placed in that domain.
