SONET Interface Status
SONET Status WindowDetailed Description
The Sonet Status Window displays five tabs: Medium, Section, Line, Path, and Virtual Tributary (not
applicable to Cisco 12000/10720 Router Manager).
Medium
The Medium tab (see Figure 9-5 on page 9-12) displays the following fields:
TypeDisplays if the signal used across this interface is SONET or SDH.
Line CodingType of line coding used in the interface. Can be B3ZS for electrical SONET signals or
NRZ for optical SONET signals.
Line TypeLine type for the interface. Can be short range single mode, long range single mode, or
multi-mode for fiber interfaces; for electrical interfaces, it can be coax or UTP; and for all other line
types it will be other.
Valid IntervalsNumber of previous intervals for which valid data is stored.
Time ElapsedTime elapsed (in seconds) after the start of the current error-measurement period.
Includes partial seconds.
Circuit IDTransmission vendor's circuit identifier.
Section
The Section tab (see Figure 9-6 on page 9-13) displays the following fields:
Loss of SignalPresence or absence of signal loss in the SONET section.
Loss of FramePresence or absence of frame loss in the SONET section.
No DefectPresence or absence of section defects.
Line
The Line tab (see Figure 9-7 on page 9-14) displays the following fields:
Alarm Indication SignalPresence or absence of alarm signals in the SONET line.
Remote Defect IndicationPresence or absence of remote defects in the SONET line.
No DefectPresence or absence of line defects.
Path
The Path tab (see Figure 9-8 on page 9-15) displays the following fields:
Signal Label MismatchPresence or absence of signal label mismatch in the SONET path.
STS - Alarm Indication SignalPresence or absence of alarm signal in the SONET path.
STS - Remote Defect IndicationPresence or absence of remote defects in the SONET path.
STS - Loss of PointerPresence or absence of pointer loss in the SONET path.
UnequippedPresence or absence of path equipment errors.
No DefectPresence or absence of path defects.
