duplex
Thiscommand,usedinconjunctionwiththespeedcommand,forcestheFastEthernet/
GigabitEthernetinterfacetooperateataspecificduplexmodeandspeed.Settingthespeedor
duplextoauto‐negotiateimpliesthatboththespeedandtheduplexmodewillbenegotiated.Itis
notpossibletomanuallysetoneandauto‐negotiatetheother.Forexample,you
cannotsetthe
speedto10Mb/sandsettheduplextoauto‐negotiate.
Whenissuingthiscommand,beawareofthefollowingadditionalconditions:
•Duplexmodecannotbechangedwhileinloopback.
• Changingtheduplexmodepreservesthespeed.
•Whenthespeedischangedfrom
auto,duplexwillbesettohalf.
•Settingspeedorduplexto
auto,nospeed,ornoduplexsetsbothduplexandspeedtoauto.
•Whenconnectingan
autosettingonanXSRtoaforcedsettingonanotherrouter,theforced
settingmustbesetto
half-duplexregardlessofthespeed(10or100Mbits).
•WhentheGigabitFiberportisuses,bothduplexandspeedmustbesettoautoonbothendsof
thelinetoavoidanunpredictablelink.
