ThiscommandsetsupanISDNBRIportforleased‐lineoperation.Leased‐lineserviceat64or128
kbpsviaBRIisprovidedinJapanandGermany.The56and112kbpsspeedsareprovidedfor
eventualNorthAmericandeploymentofthisservice.
OnceaBRIinterfaceisconfiguredfor
accessoverleasedlines,itisnolongeradialerinterface,and
signalingovertheD‐channelnolongerapplies.AlthoughtheinterfaceiscalledinterfaceBRI,itis
configuredasasynchronousserialportandallserialportcommandsareavailable.
Thiscommandcreatesaserialinterfacethatisconfigured
asastandardserialport.Itcanbeissued
onceforspeedsequaltoandhigherthen112asbothB‐channelsareboundtothecreatedserial
interface.For56and64bpsspeeds,thecommandcanbeissuedtwic etocreateindividualserial
interfaces:1and:2forB1
andB2,respectively.
Afteryouenterthecommand,youmustexitBRIconfiguration modeandconfigurethechannels
byentering
interface bri [board/port:1]orinterface bri [board/port:2].TheseBearer
portsareconfiguredasregularsynchronousserialinterfaces.
