PERFORMANCE TESTS
SECTION IV
PERFORMANCE TESTS
4-1.
INTRODUCTION
4-2.
The procedures in this section test the electrical
performance of the instrument using the specifica-
tions in Section
I
as the performance standards. The
performance tests included in this section are listed in
Table
4-1.
Most of the tests can be performed with-
out access to the interior of the instrument. If a test
measurement is marginal, perform the appropriate
adjustment procedures in Section
V.

INSTRUMENTS TESTED
4-4. Since a compatible display mainframe is
required for operation of the
HP
Model 8559A Spec-
trum Analyzer plug-in, the specifications listed in
Table 1-1 apply when both instruments are function
-
ing together. Consequently, the performance tests in
this section verify the proper operation of both the
HP
8559A and the display mainframe.
4-5.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
4-6.
he
equipment required for the performance
tests is listed under Recommended Test Equipment in
Section
I.
Any equipment that satisfies the critical
specifications given in the table may be substituted
for the recommended model.
4-7.
TEST RECORD
4-8.
Results of the performance tests may be tabu-
lated in the Performance Test Record at the end of
this section. The test record lists test specifications
and acceptable limits.
4-9.
CALIBRATION CYCLE
4
-
10.
This instrument requires periodic calibration.
Calibration should be verified every six months by
means of the performance tests.
